Processing of Holter Monitors
Holters are scanned at our main laboratory. The scanned Holters are then forwarded to a Cardiologist/Internist of the physician’s choice for interpretation. Report return to the ordering physician is approximately five working days following disconnection, but this may vary depending on the reading physician. Same day report return for urgent cases is available upon request. Verbal and preliminary reports can be obtained through the Cardiac Monitoring department at 604-507-5106 or 1-800-565-1441.
If a critical arrhythmia as listed below is observed during patient hook-up, our staff member will immediately contact the ordering physician and request direction as to the handling of the patient and the Holter.
Heart rate less than 40 bpm
Pause(s) of 3.0 seconds or longer
Runs of Ventricular Tachycardia
Runs of four (4) or more VPB’s together. Heart rate of 160 bpm or greater
