Labelling Physician Office Collected Specimens
Misidentified patient specimens pose a significant safety risk to patients as they may lead to delayed or inappropriate diagnoses and/or treatments. Please be vigilant in properly identifying swabs, PAP smears, urine samples, etc. collected by your office.

Free Report Copies for Patients - Only through my ehealth
For many years, BC Biomedical Laboratories has been providing hard copy reports to patients who have requested them, free of charge. We are currently mailing over 10,000 reports per month to patients. As this number continues to grow, this is no longer sustainable from a logistics and financial perspective. BC Biomedical Laboratories and LifeLabs Medical Services have begun informing patients that in early 2011, we will begin charging for hard copy reports on a cost-recovery basis ($10 for each request; $25 per annum for unlimited reports for standing order patients).
We hope that most patients will elect to subscribe to my ehealth instead of receiving hard copy reports in that my ehealth:
- is a free service
- provides instant access to results as they become available by the testing laboratory and is available in four languages
- allows patients to access current and historical results (dating back until the time of initial registration)
- is highly secure

BC Biomedical Launches our New Website
We are pleased to announce the launch of our redesigned BC Biomedical website which, we believe, will make it easier to use.
The new site features an improved user interface for physicians and patients, and many other new features.
Some highlights of the new site:
- An improved Location Finder using Google Maps, including driving directions
- Easier to navigate and find frequently used areas, such as our Test Directory
- Online versions of many commonly used forms, such as Clinic Supply Orders
- Helpful instructional videos for some Patient Instructions, such as Occult Blood Stool Test
