Service that provides online lab results to patients through a secure web portal praised

"This is the way the world is going. Lab results belong to the patient. They are of direct value to the patient," said Doug Buchanan, managing director of B.C. Biomedical Laboratories which, in a joint venture, has partnered with its competitor, LifeLabs, to offer the service.
Anyone going to any one of nearly 100 labs for tests, mainly on blood and other bodily fluids, can register for the service.
The labs generate millions of result reports each year and through a subsidiary called Excelleris Technologies, they will allow patients over the age of 16 to view these reports on a secure online portal after an initial, secure registration process by computer that takes about 10 minutes. The initial registration should be done just after a lab visit.
